Kanto
[kan-toh]
is one half of the largest dual continent in the world. It is the location
of the Battle Frontier, the founding region of the Pokémon League and, up
until the late 90s, one of the last remaining places one could find
animalian sealife.
Towns and Cities
1 -
Pallet Town: A small locale best known for its pallet-making factories
and its famous resident
Professor Samuel Oak, teacher of many of the world's best Pokémon science
students. Pallet Town is also the location of Xanadu Nursery run by Florinda
Showers.

Viridian City: The ruins of Viridian's old Pokémon Gym were quickly
restored and the Gym is now run by Agatha, previously a member of the Elite
Four.
3 - Pewter
City: A city of rock Pokémon lovers, Pewter has a Rock/Water combo gym run by
Forrest
Harrison.

Cerulean City: The water Pokémon realm, Cerulean's Gym is also a
performance area for the Cerulean sister trio, Daisy, Violet and Lily. For a
short while it was run by their youngest sister, Misty but was returned to the
sisters' parents shortly before Misty decided to start travelling again.

Vermillion City: Home to the biggest port in Kanto, this city is famous for its
electric types and Lt. Surge has plenty of them, his most powerful being his Raichu whose lack of speed is made up with its incredible energy.

Porta Vista: Located on Middern Island, Porta Vista has a variety of
seafood restaurants and hosts Kanto's Beach Beauty and Pokémon Costume
Contests.

Leveeville: This location is often brimming with tourists eager to take
a look at the exquisite coral reef nearby.

Maiden's Peak: The most sacred Kantoan location, Maiden's Peak is named
after an unusually shaped cliff face that resides within its boundaries. Rumour
has it that the woman's form jutting from the cliff is in fact an Agrarian Seer
who cast an stasis enchantment upon herself so she could keep watch for the one
she loved returning from his travels.

Saffron City: Home to Sabrina Wakanda, who runs the city's gym. A Pokémon Contest Hall
and fighting Pokémon Dojo are also situated here. Notably, people come from
miles around to sample the delicious delights of Kyle Manner's pasta emporium.

Lavender Town: Once a dull and foreboding place, Lavender was
brightened considerably when its rundown children's hospital was turned into a radio broadcast
facility.

Celadon City: Home to flowers and fashion, Celadon is truly a City of
external beauty and also home to Erika's grass Pokémon gym.

Gringy City: This run down
industry town is only inhabitable by Grimers and Muks due to the excessive
amount of pollution.

Fuschia City: Home to the recently revived Kantoan Endurance Run.

Town: No further information currently available.

Silver City: Home to a Pokémon Contest Hall.

Stone Town: Set at the foot of Evolution Mountain where many evolution
stones can be found, the inhabitants of this town own Pokemon that evolve with
the use of such stones and are also fascinated with their origin.

Drywood Town: Often suffers from water shortage due to a Snorlax that
lives nearby who keeps hibernating in the middle of the stream and blocking it.

Dark City : Populated by two gyms, Yas and Kas. The leaders of both
strongly wish to become part of the official Indigo league but neither are
currently allowed due to the fact they can't seem to settle their differences.

Nottshall: Plays host to an annual carnival.

Mossgreen Village: This tiny village is home to Cassandra, her mother and their
medicine-making business.

Neon Town: One of the brightest noisiest locations in Kanto, Neon Town
is open 24 hours a day and its inhabitants are often getting cranky as a result
of a lack of sleep.

Beaufort City: Location of the 1995 Princess Princess Festival.

Cinnabar Island: A fiery location set around a large volcano. Said to
be home to a hidden Team Rocket Laboratory
24 - Rossel Town: Once a prosperous mining town, Rossel
became desolate after it found itself invaded once too often by Clefairies from
nearby Mount Moon.

Hollywood: A razzle dazzle city where many a wannabe actor or musician
shall try their hands at stardom.

Seafoam Islands: Pretty ice caves surround a bustling city. The Seafoam
Islands have their own television broadcasting studio and are also the site of annual surfing contests held by Victor Suname.
27 - Gravenport City:
This city has a small port specialising in local trips to the Seafoam Islands,
Cinnabar Island and Middern Island.

Indigo Plateau: The Kantoan Stadium, where the Indigo League finals and
Grand Festival are
held, is situated here.
29 - Hophophop Town:
It is thought that Hophophop Town got its name as a result of its large expanses
of stone paving which tend to get very hot in summer. Hophophop Town plays host to an Insomniac's Therapy Group.

Setcahm Port: Recently constructed to cut down on the flow of water
traffic to Vermillion City, this sunny location is also stage to one of Kanto's
most popular drama series and specialises in boat trips to
Sonoria and the
Orange Islands.

Gardenia Town: Location of a Pokémon Contest Hall. This town shares the
same name as one of Sinnoh's gym leaders, but it is unknown as to whether this
was intentional or not.
32 - Creminie Town: Situated on the outskirts of this otherwise nondescript
place lies Anabel's Battle Tower.
33 - Mulberry Town:
The inhabitants of this town have thought to have migrated from West Kanto and
stick to their old-fashioned ways.

Kinnual Village: This village's lifestyle and general customs date back many
hundreds of years, up to the point that the townspeople choose their governor
based on a test of endurance.

specialising in trips to Hoenn and Tatto.

Ascend Port: Boats leave from this location to Sinnoh and Tatto.
40 - Cobay Town:
One of Kanto's Ranch Towns, Cobay was once
terrorized by a rogue group of abandoned Squirtles.
41 - Mintale Town:
Bordering on the luscious Springleaf Field, a haven for many different types of
Pokémon, this is a humble, easygoing location with a population of no more than
25 people.
Battle Frontier Gyms

- The Battle Factory: Run by Noland. The factory got its name for its
production of mechanical parts for various means. This location consists of a
large bowl-like construct where battlers stand on platforms and send
instructions to the battling Pokémon below. Particularly advantageous for flying
types.

- The Battle Arena: Run by Greta, this arena doubles as a Cham Fu dojo. The arena
decides how many Pokémon should battle by use of a numbered wheel.

- The Battle Dome: Run by Tucker, the Battle Dome is an entertainment
arena where every challenger is subjected to a thorough ego massage. This
treatment often contributes to their own downfall.

- The Battle Pike: Run by Lucy.

Other Locations
A -
Viridian Forest: Bug-haters beware, this forest swarms with Caterpie,
Metapod and Beedril. The south-western area has been dubbed 'Leaf Forest' due to
an unusual culmination of underground
Biocite causing certain grass types to evolve without warning.
B - Mt.
Moon: A very deep cavern which reaches far into the roots of Storm
Mountain. Trainers require the HM Flash in order to reach the deeper parts of
the cave.
C - AJ's
Gym: This unofficial gym is home to the exuberant trainer AJ and his Sandslash who have, to
date, only been beaten 5 times during 300 matches.
D -
Pokémon Tech: A highly esteemed boarding school of Pokémon-related
study, Pokémon Tech is run alongside the official league for those who prefer
learning of Pokémon battling, breeding and other information through books and
computers instead of hands-on experience. One has to have a lot of money to be
able to pay for courses.
E -
Melanie's Pokémon Preserve: A little spot in the forest where a girl
named Melanie looks after injured or abandoned Pokémon until they are healthy
enough to be returned to the wild.
F - Bill's
Lighthouse: An extremely large Dragonite was said to be seen out at sea
from the tip of this structure. William Ethersford is adamant that the creature is one of the last
surviving remnants of Pokémopolis.
G - Pokemon Land:
A Team Rocket training ground functioning under the guise of a giant Pokémon
robot amusement park. It was of the many projects funded by Giovanni as a
combined way to
siphon more funds into the Team Rocket organization while training operatives as mecha pilots. This project suffered major funding problems after the park was trashed by a group of Pokémon trainers.
H - Butterfree
Meeting Grounds: This tall cliff is where Butterfree find
mates and leave from every year, travelling west to Johto to have
offspring.
I - Fuchsia
Gym: Hidden deep in the mountains, the Fuschia gym is home to Koga who specialises in the art of stealth battling.
J - Safari Zone: A huge
Pokémon preserve containing a wide array of rare
species.
K -
Bike Bridge: Once governed by a rogue bicycle gang, the bridge is now
carefully patrolled to prevent further disturbance.
L -
Abandoned Lab: Once home to Prof. Kabili Sinclare, this facility was destroyed in a conflict with Team Rocket and has
never been rebuilt.
M -
Grandpa Canyon: Once the site of a large deposit of natural Pokémon
fossils, Grandpa Canyon has since been closed to the public due to frequent
mining causing the area to become unstable.
N -
The Morgan Estate: Grounds belonging to Christopher and Rebecca Morgan.
O -
K-9 Training Unit: A special Kantoan facility where Growlithe, Pedien,
Houndour and Poocheyna are trained as guard and attack dogs for the
Police.
P - Mt. Hideaway: The earth in this area is particularly nutritious to Onix,
some of which have grown to a very good age.
Q -
Pokémopolis Ruins: Part of the widely spread mass of dilapidated
edifices and temples that made up the ancient Pokémopolis, the first known highly
advanced civilisation.
R -
Skittybaroochees: This unique locale was specially set up to provide a
safe, organized environment for Pokémon recreation. Other facilities include an
onsite Pokémon Center with Pokédex maintenance services.
S -
Kaiku
Garden: A small clan of Bulbasaur and Ivysaur live here, governed by a
Venusaur. During certain seasons other Bulbasaur shall arrive from across the
region to take part in an evolution ceremony.
T - Imite House: Run by Duplica
Imite and her team of Ditto, the Imite House is
both a rest stop and a place of entertainment, where both Duplica and her Ditto
show off their incredible ability to look like something or someone else.
U - Barura
Restaurant : Run by twin sisters Ronda and Rhoda Hasana, this stylish
restaurant in the middle of seemingly nowhere offers top food by the resident
Sneasel Chef with added performance by a talented Mr. Mime.
V -
Professor P. Gordon's Laboratory: Patrick Gordon is best known for his
somewhat eccentric forays into Pokémon ability-based inventions, some of which
have been more successful than others.
W -
Greevsend Castle: This beautiful building was originally owned by
Prof. Dewei Yung and damaged by unknown circumstances but after his
disappearance it was renovated as a tourist attraction.
X -
Summer Cottage: A deceptively named castle poised on the water's edge
and inhabited by Granger and Wilhelmina Channery.
Y -
Evolution Mountain: So called after certain types of evolution stones
were harvested from it. It is thought to composed of a large amount of
Taragirite and therefore highly susceptible to the environment.

Fishing House: ??
AA -
Fennel Valley Pokémon Center: One of the biggest Pokémon Centers in
Kanto, this location provides exercise, training and rest facilities, and even
has its own contest hall for unofficial matches.
BB -
Pokélantis Ruins: The remains of a civilisation of Water Cho'moken
wielders, connected to a wide network of underground tunnels.
CC - Cobalt Coast:
A mostly untouched beach where residents of Mintale Town are sometimes known to
visit for fishing. Lati sightings have
said to have occurred here.
DD -
Mt. Snowfall: Atop this chilly precipice lie mysterious ruins which are
only visible during the 5th hour of the 5th day of every month.
