Sonoria

From Rebirpedia, the Pokémon Rebirth encyclopaedia.

Sonoria [so-nor-ii-ah] is a tri-regional continent located in the southern hemisphere. The largest region in this continent is Fiore. This region is conjoined with Orre (bottom left) and Almia (top left).

Sonoria's length is three quarters of Johto's and, unlike any other continent in the world, it mostly consists of protected land. This land is watched over by the Agrarian Seers, but patrolled by Pokémon Rangers. This widespread level of protection may be due to the existence of an ancient Sonorian legend.

Sonoria does not contain any Pokémon species unique to the area. However, in Fiore and Almia, there is a strict ban on the possession and use of Pokéballs to lessen environmental damage and Pokémon thefts.

Fiore

The mainland of Sonoria, Fiore is a heavily forested area brimming with many different species of Pokémon. Most Fiorian youths end up choosing to become Pokémon Rangers as opposed to Trainers, since this career choice is more beneficial.

Fiorian knowledge on Pokémon species seems a little stunted, with older members on the region being unable to recognize Pokemon which are commonly recognizable worldwide.

Fiore is also the birthplace of the musically-oriented 'Go-Rock Quads'. Once admins for their father's regional crime ring, these quadruplet siblings have since moved on to a more legitimate form of work touring the world and performing their songs.

Almia

Almia is the location of the Pokémon Ranger training school and styler-manufacturing technological facility.

Orre

Unlike Fiore and Almia, Orre suffers from a distinct lack of Pokémon inhabitants. This is due to the fact that most of Orre is bleak, sandy desert.

The reason for Orre's vastly altered landscape stems back to The Divergence. It is thought that prior to this cataclysmic occurrence, a particularly formidable sect of the Pokémopolitans existed in the portion of Ransei now known as Orre. Their advanced knowledge was preserved and it was that knowledge, particularly of Cyberspace, which gave Orreans a technological edge over the rest of the world during the early 20th century.

Technology that Orre is best known for is the Battle SIM protocol, Pokémon Healer and Storage Systems and the infamous Snag Machine, the data from which would later be taken and used for a variety of other designs, including Team Rocket's Rocket Balls. Orre was also the test bed of the Pokémon Centre scheme, which was a great success.

Due to its harsh environment and the ability of its inhabitants to withstand higher temperatures, Orre has produced some of the finest athletes in the world - particularly in the marathon divisions.

Relations with neighbouring Fiore are tentative at best. Fiorians have proved to be most uncooperative with regards to contributing Pokémon species to Project Revive, an attempt to restore Orre to its once lush state. As a result, Orre has been forced to import Pokémon from regions that are further away.

Culture in Orre is an interesting blend of athleticism and efficiency, with many of the region's citizens using short form or acronym versions of their names in everyday situations. This region is the birthplace of such musical styles as Jazz, Flamenco and Salsa.

Towns and Cities

1 - Wintown: This town is located in the Kel Fen Valley and as such, is subjected to the uniquely cold currents that pass continuously through the area. Win Town's houses are specially built of stone to resist the chill.

2 - Ring Town: Home to the Pokémon Ranger Main HQ.

3 - Fall City: Home to the Joy Clock Tower, this bustling city is also connected to Fiore's port which welcomes visitors from across the world.

4 - Summerland: Part of a thriving tourist community, Summer Town's vibrant atmosphere is enhanced only by its tropical temperatures. Such an atmosphere proves to be not only highly attractive to human visitors, but also to grass and fire type Pokémon.

5 - Konek Town: With its high altitude and low temperatures, Konek Town is home to only the most hardy of souls. Ice and Flying type Pokémon can be found in abundance here. There is also access to the town station; the only safe route into neighbouring Orre.

6 - Pyrite Town: The most rundown location in Orre. Riddled with rogue trainers just looking to pick a fight, it is advisable to stay away from Pyrite unless armed with a team of skilled Pokémon and sharp wit. Pyrite Town also contains an underground train link to neighbouring Fiore.

7 - Phenac City: The most beautiful location in Orre, due to the lake nearby the City has a plentiful supply of water.

8- Eclo Canyon: Location of the mostly-abandoned Team Snagem Hideout while is still said to contain a small group of outlaws bent on reviving the technology used to manipulate Pokémon. Eclo Canyon is thus named for its intriguing acoustics and scatterings of Sound type Pokemon such as Whismur and Chingling.

9- Tygye City: Positioned on the cusp of the canyon, Tygye was built in the prime location of Orre's Iron reserves. However, mass mining severely depleted iron supplies.

11 - Agate Village: A restful relaxing place, Agate is where many of the world's older trainers and gym leaders go to live after retirement. It is also considered very sacred due to the Relic Forest nearby. Relic Forest is watched over by Eagun Temujin and is the only known location in the world where Animalia (particularly air-dwellers) continue to survive in large numbers.

10 - Mt. Battle: Active Mt. Camerupt received its better-known title after its energy was harnessed to create a battle setup composed of hovering platforms. Trainers test their skill and stamina challenging many others until they reach the top.

12- Gateon Port: Mostly used for shipping goods, Gateon has sometimes played host to tourist liners from Johto, Hoenn and other regions further afield.

13- Gani Village: A small location which is home to many Agrarian Seers and their families. Built around the Cave of Healing, a rocky hollow lined with Biocite that accelerates one's natural recovery processes.
