Phrossa
is the coldest region in the world, rendered
practically uninhabitable to humans and most species of Pokémon as a
result of shifting earth plates over hundreds of years.
Once, Phrossa was a cool yet more habitable
area which played host to the powerful
Tanmius and Terup viking tribes and
their Pokémon associates. As the temperature plummeted and cultivating
food became impossible, these tribes migrated southward - selfishly
overtaking smaller and more defenceless settlements in their pursuit of
resources.
Due to its positioning, Phrossa makes an
excellent habitat for Ice type Pokémon, particularly Spheal, Swinub and
its advanced evolutionary forms. It is also the location of the Phrossan
Aurora, a mysterious light phenomenon that can be seen from space.
It is thought that the Phrossan Aurora was
responsible for attracting an incoming meteorite containing two
Deoxys in 1994.
