Pokémon License

From Rebirpedia, the Pokémon Rebirth encyclopaedia.

Pokémon License is a form of ID that allows the user to legally retain pokémon. Licenses come in several variants which give the owner differing privileges, and appear in a universal template recognized worldwide.

A Pokémon License usually appears in a physical, printed format, or a digital format present on a Pokédex, PokéGear or other personal, handheld device. Licenses are non-transferable.

Variants

Handler License

Minimum Age of Applicant: 6 Years old

The most common Pokémon License in circulation, the handler license recognizes the holder as a responsible citizen and allows the basic privilege of keeping a pokémon in their company. Handler licenses do not put a cap on how many pokémon the license holder has, but if the pokémon are seen to be in a neglected condition, the license can be revoked. Therefore, the typical number of pokémon a handler usually keeps is three to four.
Handlers are not allowed to instruct their pokémon to attack for any other means besides self-defence. They cannot enter their pokémon into tournaments, contests or challenge Gym Leaders. They can, however, participate in sporting events.

Trainer License

Minimum Age of Applicant: 10 Years old
The most well-known license, these allow the holder to legally engage in pokémon battles, challenge Gyms and enter tournaments and contests. Due to the advanced responsibility involved in trainerhood, potential trainers are expected to pass an exam prior to receiving their first license.
Trainers are only entitled to carry 6 pokémon with them at a time.

Gym Leader License

Minimum Age of Applicant: 10 Years old
An upgraded variant of the Trainer License which allows the holder to run and maintain a Pokémon Gym. Active Gym Leaders are expected to report to The Pokémon League committee on a regular basis, and receive annual assessment to ensure their competence.

Medical License

Minimum Age of Applicant: 21 Years old
This license recognizes the holder as a registered Pokémon Doctor and allows them to legally perform medical procedures on other people's pokémon and run any sort of medical establishment.

Breeder License

Minimum Age of Applicant: 14 Years old
A toned-down version of the Medical License, a Breeder License requires the holder to have taken some of the Pokémon Health courses studied by Doctors. It recognizes the holder as a registered Pokémon Breeder, and allows them to run a Daycare Centre or Grooming Parlour.

Enforcement License

Minimum Age of Applicant: Varies by Profession
One of the more obscure Pokémon Licenses carried by members of the Police and Pokémon Rangers. They allow the use of pokémon in their care in order to carry out the license-holder's respective duties.
