The Aura Retention Unit
is
a device primarily used for the immobilization/preservation of
living organisms. It works by effectively restricting the flow of
Aura
throughout the body, petrifying the target. This petrifaction causes the victim's skin to take on a metallic
appearance, however their life force is preserved despite their inability
to move.
As with other forms of
containment such as Pokéballs, the level of
consciousness of a figure petrified by the ARU varies.
Pokémon Hunter
Jaye Gourouke is the most
well-known user of the ARU, having fitted the device to a machine she wore
on her arm. However, she obtained the schematics
by unscrupulous means from
Lunari
scientists who had originally designed it as a medical tool.
Averse to Pokéball
technology due to concerns over Lunari-specific genetic quirks that could develop as a
result of being inside one, these scientists devised a theory that if it
were possible to petrify the individual who was severely injured, one
could stop the bleeding and allow the medic all the time he needs to
examine the wound in realspace.
Additionally, this would
also prove useful in case of disasters resulting in too many patients
needing treatment. The ARU could potentially be used to prevent
a lot of those patients from dying before the doctors could get around to
helping them. |
