Tatto
[Ta-toh]
is a small region situated off the north-western coast of
Johto. Its continued existence following
The
Divergence is what gave it the reputation as 'The Indelible Nation' -
seemingly unable to be wiped off the map despite its lesser size.
Weather is typically on the colder and
wetter side, with infrequent rainfall and gusts. More prolonged periods of
sunshine arise for one to three months in the middle of the year.
Tatto's government works in cooperation with
the
Agrarian Seers
to maintain the condition of the region's natural landscapes. The
activities of Pokémon Trainers are restricted to urban and official Gym
locations. However, this doesn't exclude the catching of wild Pokémon from most
areas.
Land transport in Tatto is
mainly by bus, railway, cycles and Pokémon. The region's main road is
Route 1M, which runs the length of Tatto from east to west, and is
primarily used by cargo vehicles. Ferries and planes also carry people to
and from the region.
All Tattoan children have to
attend three levels of school from the ages of 5 to 16. There they
learn the basics of citizenship, history, reading, writing and arithmetic.
From then on they are free to choose to learn further subjects, develop
skills, take employment or even set out on the well-established task of
Pokémon training. It is illegal for a child under 16 in Tatto to gain a
Pokémon
Trainer's License without their parents' consent.
The
Tatto Expedition
does not follow typical league conventions - Gym challenges
require trainers to fulfil varying requirements to obtain medals in order
to analyse and refine different skills, traits and synchronicity between a
Trainer and their Pokémon. Instead of an Elite Four, the Expedition ends
with an assessment by a member of the Elite Guard, a pair of Seers
selected to test Expedition participants.
As well as Pokémon Training, other popular
forms of entertainment in Tatto are
baccer and golf.
Towns and Cities
1 -
Prela Village: Nestled at the foot of Tatto's east mountain range, Prela
Village was - in the past - best known for its Psychic type Pokémon Gym and busy
ski slopes during the colder months. Following the Gym Leader's disappearance,
visitors to Prela have dwindled. Professor Werty's laboratory is located here.
2 -
Retton Port:
The largest commercial port in Tatto. From here, travellers depart to other regions in the Pokémon
World.
3 -
Nashgri City:
This city
develops the generators that keep each location in Tatto supplied with
electricity. Nashgri is famous for its electric pokémon
lovers, two of them being Gym Leader Finlay Thomas and his
younger brother Dai. Also the site of the Targology Laboratory, where
research into new forms of energy is ongoing.
4 - Dustry Town:
Known for its industrial parks and factories,
Dustry is responsible for the mass production of a large
variety of household goods. There exists very little in the way of a populace
here - the only residential housing present is for factory workers, along with a
small array of shops and other conveniences.
5
- Wichour Town:
A place with quaint rural architecture, but an
uncomfortable history. Large markets are held here twice weekly. The abandoned
structure of the Astral Blade Tower
is one of the town's most recognizable features. Also home to
a
Kakureiro teaching school.
6
- Pachna Town: A tourist hot spot not only for its unique step-like
landscaping, but also its celestial connections. Hundreds of people flock to
look at the Makkan Circle - an arrangement of large oval stones - every year,
believing the location to be a landing area for Pokémon from space. Grass and
earth type Pokémon are commonly found here assisting with cultivation and upkeep
of the many gardens.
7
- Sarthest City: Sarthest is a curious, layered city with its
pristine surface belying its somewhat dingy underbelly. In its more upbeat areas
lie a prestigious university, sprawling parks, restaurants and various forms of
entertainment, including one of the region's largest video game arcades,
8
- Edgeville:
The city that never sleeps, Edgeville is
a 24 hour non-stop party place
with money on its mind. Visitors will
find casinos, street stalls and bargain stores at every turn.
9
- Scale Falls: Situated on a plateau surrounded by water, Scale
Falls boasts cultural prowess over the rest of Tatto and has been the origin
point for the some of the region's most talented artists. Tatto's largest art
gallery and oldest library can be found here. Visitors to Scale Falls pass over an extensive bridge
known as "Champion's Walk", which features statues of trainers who have conquered
tournaments worldwide.
10 - Mayni City:
Multi-regional hub of Tatto. Location of Tatto's main airport and registration office for
the Tatto Expedition. Jackwell Park is an extensive recreation area that spans
the perimeter of the city.
11 - Coalef Town:
This mystical place is so named due to its links with Celebi, a
pokemon known for its unusual, musical aura. Groups of Celeva are raised and
trained here by local Seers, and the most skilled and
responsible of them are chosen to evolve. Once a rural village, Coalef became a larger
populace upon the construction of a hotel and stadium complex within its
boundaries. The Coalef Compendium is hosted here quad-annually, while the
remainder of the time it is used for concerts.
12 - Darkiff Town: Darkiff Town is a farming locale specialising in raising Mareep and Flaaffy. It
is also known
for its harbourside market, where merchants flock to sell their goods.
13 - Cormouth Port: The temperature of this peninsular is considerably
chillier than the rest of Tatto, due to its bombardment from sea breezes on all
sides. Ice types can be found living here. Particularly famous for
the delectable Cormouth
Pastry and unique-flavoured ice cream created from walrein milk.
14 - Firstep Village:
Better known for its vast
population of baby and young Pokémon. Many breeders live here, and over half of the region’s newborns
originate from this village.
15 - Vexel City: Considered to be Tatto's equivalent of Hoenn's LaRousse
City. Vexel City has a dedicated railway system, as well as a large conference
hall where technology expos are frequently held. Budding Tattoan inventors
travel here to show off their projects to interested entrepreneurs.
The Vexel City Gym is a
virtual projection, running on an array of independently powered generators.
Another area of the city contains work sheds rented out by engineers.
16 - Ryme City: Location of Tatto's main media broadcast network. Ryme's strict anti-battling
laws have driven the city's training scene underground, causing the practise to
be frowned upon here more than other places. Signals from the
PMI are
blocked across the city, meaning all Pokémon living there roam out in the open. The
nearby Ryme Wharf has a number of warehouses for commercial shipping.
17 - Cappucci Island: The population of this
island has grown
substantially over the last few years, the result of outsiders purchasing
holiday and retirement homes there. A lake on the island is frequented by
Milotic and Masquerain.
Other Locations
A - Prela Tunnel:
This construction allows
vehicles to pass from Prela Village to the rest of Tatto by cutting through the mountainside.
B
- Nashgri Forest
C - Power
Plant:
A mineral-fuelled facility for
south-east Tatto that
was abandoned when an offshore windfarm was built. It has since become a nesting
ground for wingulls and pelippers.
D - Cosma
Point:
Once a bustling cliffside town where
humans and Pokémon worked closely together, a devastating fire rendered much of Cosma's
buildings unusable. It
remains off limits -
ordered by its founder to be left untouched as a mark of respect, and a reminder
of why the fire happened in the first place.
E - Kemnon
Tower:
Home to the
Agrarian Seers of Tatto, Kemnon Tower contains a library of historical
documents, accommodation, lecture rooms and a surrounding garden and field area
for growing food. The Elite Guard tests visiting trainers who challenge them,
and rewards those who are successful. A large crystal rests at the tower's peak.
F -
Pokémon Comprehensive Laboratory: A scientific complex where Pokémon
abilities are studied for any potential use in other applications.
G -
Fine Park: A popular Tattoan theme park. Site of the region's biggest
ferris wheel.
