Sinnoh

From Rebirpedia, the Pokémon Rebirth encyclopaedia.

Sinnoh [sin-oh] is a heavily mountainous continent located in the northern hemisphere. It is the center of fashion, origin of culinary delights such as the Poffin, Minerol and Oreburgers and widely-known for its rather eccentric take on life. Sinnoh is also where Pokemon Contests really took off and became known about worldwide.

It is unique in the sense that it is the only region not to have been formed as a result of The Divergence - instead being manifested separately by Arceus some centuries after they were directed to form Ransei. As a result, its levels of Pokémon fossils and precious stones are some of the highest in Oci and an extensive organization is dedicated to the mining and salvaging of these materials.

Gratitude is a heavy part of Sinnoh's culture, as the people's history dictates they have a lot to be thankful for. The region as a whole is quite spiritual and in touch with their roots. However, much of the historical information its people cling to has been warped as a result of passing years and over-speculation. Over time, the inhabitants became confused as to whom to give their thanks, and many different powerful pokémon have ended up inappropriately worshipped as a result.

Spoiler Warning - Major plot details may follow

Sinnoh is a region that was, for some time, steeped in controversy and stigma as a result of how it came to exist. Arceus had created the region for their own gains, having previously being brainwashed by Xerneas into believing they had a greater right to power. Tajigyama responded by effectively demoting Arceus from their energy channelling duties and restricting the Pokémon to a subdued equine form. However it refused to destroy the newly formed region, believing that the creatures which now lived upon it had a right to exist as much as any of the others on Ransei.

Some of the Guardian Pokémon were unable to see it that way. Ho-oh in particular took great offence to Sinnoh's existence, and rallied a number of Lati to his cause. The resulting meteor shower summoned by the Lati damaged a large portion of north Sinnoh, and would have eradicated it had Arceus not risen to stop the brunt of the attack.
